Andorra
If one of your other major reasons for travelling apart from
chillaxing is “shopping” then your next stop is Andorra!
Andorra is a tiny country in between Paris and Spain so you
get to experience a mix of French and Spanish culture. Its capital city is
called Andorra La Vella (it sounds French-Spanish to me).
Andorrans love Skiing and they have numerous Ski resorts. They
have a lot of boutiques and shopping centres for your different needs such as
arts and crafts, souvenirs, cafes and galleries, boutiques, antique shops,
flower shops, beddings and duvets, kiddies fashion and accessories, wines and spirits,
jewelries and costumes, watches, colognes and perfumes, restaurants and
eateries, and all you can think of.
The good thing about Andorra is that shopping is least
expensive. The same products sold at departmental shops in Paris and Spain is
sold at a lesser price in Andorra. Even food items and provisions of same
scales are priced cheaper in Andorra than in these other cities. Cost of living
is relatively affordable compared to the other cities.
They have numerous shopping centres and some are listed
below:
Illa Carlemany – This
is a massive shopping mall with various shop compartments and stores for
different items.
The CCA (Centro Commercial
Andorra) and Super U Supermarket – wide offer of fashion and
accessories, sports, games, stationery, household, decoration and multimedia.
The Super U supermarket has the largest range of food products in Andorra,
Spain and France at highly competitive prices. A Duty Free area with a
large selection of liquors, tobacco and cigars. On the second floor you
have a Cafeteria-Restaurant and a Self-Service with home-made and Mediterranean
cuisine.
Grans Megatzems Pyrenees Shopping
Centre – these has departmental stores, coffee and
pastry shops, supermarket and restaurants
Roca and Ribes
Andorra 2000 Centre –
Cheap grocery store
They have other new shops and their local market is one stop
you shouldn’t miss.
People actually drive all the way from Barcelona, Spain to Andorra
for shopping purposes.
Asides shopping you could also visit:
The Town of Les Escaldes - it is a town very close to Andorra La Vella
and it has a lot of hot springs.
The National Automibile Museum is a very pretty place to visit.
The Santa Coloma Church
The Valira d’Orient Valley – this is also a historical place
that you could visit.
Andorra National dish is called “Escudella” – it consists of
white beans, ham, chicken breasts, pork sausages, prosciutto, cabbage,
potatoes, noodles, peas and vegetable oil.
They also offer other French, Spanish and Italian cuisines.
Visiting Andorra is a worthwhile
Adventure!
