With summer looming around the corner,
preparation for the summer holidays seems to be in full gear! Are you looking
forward to having your first vacation outside of Nigeria and wouldn’t want to
experience visa issues or very expensive holiday but still get a lifetime
treat, I have got the perfect place for you. It is an unusual vacation place – start
making plans for your trip to Mauritius!
Mauritius is an Indian Ocean Island in East
African. It is home to very beautiful beaches, lagoons, national parks,
waterfalls, hiking trails and wildlife.
Mauritius does not presently have an embassy in
Nigeria but not to worry they issue a 2-weeks Visa on arrival at their
port of entry to Nigerian citizens visiting for the purpose of tourism/vacation
or for business purpose. The weather is warm between March and June which makes
it a good time to travel.
They have very affordable and beautiful hotels and cost of living is relatively reasonable. Their cuisine is a mixture of Indian, Arab and Chinese.
Transportation within towns and places could either be by hiring a car, taxis or bus – which I think is adventurous. You get to take in the sights, smells and sounds of the environment.
Visit the Seven Coloured Earth and see one of
the wonders of nature! It is a small area of sand dunes which consists of seven
distinct colours namely red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and
yellow! It is quite a beautiful sight to behold.
There are also other places to visit such as
the “the crystal rock”, “the museum”, “shopping”,
lounging at the beach at sunset, restaurants,
amongst others.

For more adventures you could go “under water sea walk at Grand Bay’”
where you get to see the bottom of the Indian Ocean. You will be given just a
helmet before entering the water. The helmet is usually linked to an air tank
that lets you breathe normally as you walk on the seabed up to 10 feet below
the surface; this gives you the opportunity to admire the life underneath the
water. You get to see fishes and other sea animals. The helmet helps you keep
your hair dry while you take your stroll beneath the waters.
